How to face the speaking test with confidence

When answering your interviewer avoid giving short answers, because shorts answers reflect lack of fluency

Fluency has so many aspects ,ability to give a detailed answer, using approriate words, impressing the listner by holding the attention to your speech
are few of them.look at the following examples.

Examiner :What do you do in your free time ?

Short answer :reading (This is not a suitable answer,Its just a one word answer.it doesnt reveal your speaking ability your capacity to speak)

Instead you can give a long answer as follows

Long answer : Well .....I have very little free time however I think I use my freetime effectively .Every night I read about 50 pages of a book.
and I walk about two kilo meters daily for my physical well being. yes ...I use my free time effectively mainly because I have a wide variety of leisure activities
.

When you speak as in the above example your examiner do not get much chance to ask many questions always see to that you're the one who should talk more..

IELTS Speaking test

Using Hesitation fillers

When speaking people should organize ideas spontaneously actually you have very little time to do this. It is because the other is always waiting for your response and you will never know what other person may ask.
Therefore to mark time until you organise your ideas ,you can use hesitation fillers. Some common fillers are mentioned below try to use them .Using them not only enable you to better express your ideas but also give you and air of a good communicator .This will certainly impress your interviewer.

  • You know......
  • I mean.......
  • well...
  • mmmm....
  • Some sort of.....
  • Kind of a.....
  • Ok.....
  • All right....

Take your time to organise your ideas , use them
